The current excuse is that the State Fair pushed them out. Because Expo Park is dead with the State Fair going on.. which is strange because this weekend, tons of people were at Expo Park.. And when is the availability of a few million more customers an issue?? There's probably more to this story then what has been given to the media outlets, and their employees.. but I guess unlike Pegasus News, and The Observer I don't accept explanations with glaring holes in logic.. but like Pegasus News, and the Observer, I'll simply be too lazy to get more information about it.

Maybe we can blame the credit crisis??

the owner\'s of meridian couldn\'t financially afford to operate two businesses Meridian/Libertine. The had a unrealistic business model. I suppose they made \"sophie\'s choice\" & went with libertine. The writing was on the wall when most of their entree\'s were replaced with bad sandwiches. Hope libertine stays open.

the people that own the properties are the ones to blame.
They gave everyone shitty deals on their leases.

when the current owners bought the properties they bought it full of tenants.

most of the lease agreements were set by the previous owners who had a good sense of what that area generates financially.

The new owners played as if nothing was going to change , but sure enough they drafted new agreements that were un realistic to that area. they were acting as though expo was uptown , so if you signed the new lease great you stayed , if you didn\'t you were gone. those that signed survived as long as they could but the area doesn\'t bring in enough to justify a huge rent increase,so as you can see everyone is closing.

now i wouldn\'t be surprised if they sold out to any developer that makes an offer, especially since the guy that made the big buy died recently.

The people who go to the state fair, don\'t go to any of the places in Expo park. They just take up all the parking. Talk to anyone at any of the places down there-- and ask if their business increases during the fair. They will all tell you that it goes down.

Many regulars stay away during the whole fair.
