Record Hop | Last Men | Tre Orsi (Dan's Silver Leaf)

Tonight is the cd release show for the much anticipated sophomore release by Record Hop, simply title "Record Hop." Local opinions have been favorable and we'll have our own review soon. Will Last Men blow out the PA at Dan's tonight? We'll see.

PPT | Clever Monkeys (The Cavern)

Neil Hamburger | Triggermen | Man Factory (Rubber Gloves)
Neil Hamburger's brand of performance art/ comedy is actually pretty funny, more often than not. You should go just to hear his subtle insight on the lives of Courtney Love and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Hilarious.

Les Claypool | Tim Fite (House Of Blues)
Thank you, Les Claypool. For all the bass players you inspired in the nineties, and the millions of hours I spent listening to them popping and slapping their way through high school.

Lost Generation (Fallout Lounge)
Disqo Disco will be filling in for Wanz tonight.

Hey Cory G. Give Danny a pat on the butt for me. It's too bad i HATE Jews Huh.

cory glover says..5:31 PM

Yes. Danny's lesser known brother, whom had a pretty good acting gig, until...well...the stabbings.

Its true. I did. THRICE!

Matt Barnhart=Lloyd Garroway
Steve Albini=Freddy Riedenschneider

matt barnhart says..2:53 PM

why would anyone record with matt barnhart?

Steve Albini says..2:50 PM

Any band can record with me. Whats the problem? People have their standards in which really are just useless critiques. This could've been recorded with Matt Barnhart whats the difference? Don't get all sassy over my name.

bigg butt says..2:36 PM

I wasn't able to get a ticket to Les Claypool......so I just went and hung out at guitar center in the "bass" quadrant

but what if your were not gonna buy the cd?...

Anonymous says..2:09 AM

i like yr math

Anonymous says..2:03 AM

me thinks due to the $7 cover, the CD cost was dropped to $5 for this night. So instead of having your evening ruined by 2 extra dollars, you can have it rule by saving 3. maths.

Anonymous says..1:58 AM

nevermind... $7 for three locals? you'd think with a record release show where most people will be buying a record you wouldn't charge so damn much. i was all jazzed up on going, but not anymore, well done dan.

Anonymous says..1:53 AM

how much are dan's silverleaf shows?

streisand says..1:19 AM

i hardly think that recording with albini was a move for attention.

He does some nice recording albums and he isn't that expensive. Plus you get to meet the guy. "I saw a early bigblack video where he states in front of an english audience "I wouldn't wipe my ass with a cocteau twins album" That is humour. Well to me anyway.

oh i own garlands.

If recording with Albini meant as much as you say it does, then by that logic Burnt Sienna Trio and Early Lines are huge blockbuster bands since they both recorded with him multiple times.

Maybe if you didn't read Quick (and you shouldn't) you could get some better perspective. Kurt Cobain? Joanna Newsom and High On Fire are probably better and more current examples of the guy's staying ability. But he also recorded Stagmummer and Conformists. Do you know who the fuck that is? Probably not. Guess he isn't a starmaker after all.

Anonymous says..10:51 PM

young local music writers find their angle and go with it. The angle for the mainstream press is Albini. that's why I'm looking forward to the wsjr review so someone will finally talk about the music. I've heard the record. The music is good.

Anonymous says..10:43 PM

nobody would care about the record hop album if albini had not of pushed buttons whilst they played. not a knock on hop, actually i guess thats good marketing for them because every thing about them that i have read recently, which has been everywhere, (well, mostly just quick) includes that as if it is a validating point. but thats the music "scene" for you. if anything it speaks to the power of kurt cobain even this far removed.

streisand says..10:27 PM

The drums and living room are from 1976.

no offense intended, but do you think you'll continue to promote Hailey's 80s night indefinitely. It's just gotten to be so redundant and predictable. I feel like if you're going to set a precedent for 80's night, than you need to post about every time Le Freak is playing... you know, just to keep us informed
