it list : wednesday

Sorry this is late and lame, but it's still better than YOUR It list:

Strawberry Fields is doing the Short Attention Span Theatre tonight at Hailey's. Some kind of Western theme is involved tonight, meaning they will show strange cowboy themed stuff I'm assuming. Usually fun.

Also in Denton, Warren Jackson Hearne is playing at Rubber Gloves with Jason Webley and Will E. Lee.

Looks like that's about it.

You're probably mixing them up with Lez Zeppelin, a different GLBT-friendly novelty band, which also received Observer coverage two weeks in a row. The music editor is a lesbian, which I only mention because it seems like she's listening and writing with her twat. I mean, she even talked about lesbians in a news blurb about a male rapper. I'd guess the fact that she's gay is a big part of why she hasn't been fired yet.

Isn't this the third issue in a row for SheDick, or am I mistaken?

mm-hmm. I noticed that about first thing this morning when I opened the Observer. The Observer music writers, whoever they were in the past, have always had their pet projects. It's something you come to expect after a while. I mean, even this site has a handful of people it mentions over and over again.
Observer music writers, whoever they were in the past, have all been complained about and bashed by the people who feel they are not being covered enough, or at all. It's something you come to expect after a while.
Some of these complaints have gotten pretty hateful and personal, and I never took part in it, I just sort of excepted that a writer is going to lean toward their personal tastes and that's about it. Life goes on, no big deal really. In the end -as far as arts are concerned - the metroplex area is a sort of a backwater that no-one pays attention to so there's no reason to get upset.
I've watched and sort of shrugged it off lately as the Observer's music section has become increasingly uninteresting and irrelevant. It didn't bother me because I'm not effected - I'm not hurt by a lack of coverage of my "scene" cuz I really don't have one.
This, though is a little different. To run what amounts to be a feature on the same group two weeks in a row complete with big picture and all is just sort of - wrong. It's not illegal or anything, it's just not being a good editor or writer. Do you really want to repeat yourself like that? If this blog talks about The Party five days a week that's one thing - it's updated daily. But for a weekly paper to do this...
Someone at that paper should have said something like "Um, you really shouldn't feature the same band two weeks in a row" or put their foot down in some way.
It's sort of strange they would do this, but I guess it's just another nail in the coffin for that paper's music section.
Again, I thought about shrugging it off because the section hasn't really been worth commenting on lately but I felt the need to say something - mostly because I feel there is an incompetent job being done.
Like I said, I've seen music writers get bashed in the past but this just sort of perplexes me.
Who knows, maybe I'm just too out of touch to realize that this is something important happening in local music or maybe I'm just confused by these strange, conflicting and somewhat tingly feelings I'm having after being repeatedly exposed to pictures of SheDick.
What?! Did I just say that out loud? Damn.
