jonanna widner fired

A super secret inside source from the Dallas Observer confirmed in an email to us this morning that Jonanna Widner was fired as Music Editor yesterday. A retrospective on her role in the highly regarded local cover band | dudes with birds nest hair scene is forthcoming.

None of the details are available at this time, but I bet someone will send us something soon. Stay tuned.

^^^Wow, quintessential Widner. Also known as horrible. How odd that a recently fired music editor made another handful of grammatical errors and obviously didn't proofread her blog entry. Twelve-year-olds can, and have, done better.

Personally, my favorite local band that never got any press has always been Polyphonic Spree...oh wait. I mean Slow Roosevelt. Sorry for the mix-up.

I've only opened an Observer in the past year to read about Jim's Trinity rants. No need turning to the music section, they never write about bands I like. In fact, neither does WSJR. Damn.

wow...who gives a fuck?

oh sorry some of you maybe thought the observer would magically get awesome now...whoops!

As much as I hate to admit how popular one of my favorite bands is, "post mangum" is actually pretty genius term.

Jonanna wrote about my band, Sarah Reddington, once and did a terrible job. I don't think she even really tried. She mentioned everyone in the band besides the lead singer, and then managed to say "Cody Seals is not Sarah Reddington", assuming that Cody Seals was the lead singer and not the drummer? That girl needs to do some research...maybe then she wouldn't get fired?

It was awful. I don't think she'll be missed.

10:01, there are two things wrong with your post.

1. I can, and do.
2. I did not attend grad school.

Other than that, you nailed it.

By scenester law aren't you supposed to cling desperately to anything you can't have anymore?

I bet in a week or so people will talk down to those who came after Jonanna Bananna.

JOHN "FUCKING" FREEMAN!!!!

He's the only contributing writer that gives enough of a shit about local music to bring that paper (or at least the music section) back to being readable. As it stands, the only decent thing about DO is "Red Meat" and ads for prostitutes. Why not just turn the music section into the "Ask A Mexican" section? Could it be any worse that it was?

Damn, I still miss the Met!

If Noah promises not to write about ghosthustler, I say hire him immediately.

Also, we need the Observer to start functioning as an enabler because Dallas gets too caught up in cliques sometimes.

Although I suppose that's more up to the people of Dallas.

Well shit, here I was hoping I'd get my big chance to have Hot Flash be put on the cover of the Observer and billed as semi-annual Yak-Calling competition. I'm still angry over that god-damned Ghosthustler article. Love them or hate them, that was a piss poor example of reporting.

as a freelance writer for the Night & Day section of the D.O. and a future rock venue owner and a local "musician", I think we should try to bring Lester Bangs back from the dead and have him take over as the new music editor. That guy had moxy!!!

Do people seriously think Noah Bailey would be better? By how much? I have two words for you: "Post Mangum." Look it up. He actually made that little beauty of a term up.

The ONLY good thing about Jonanna was that she wasn't some tired old Dallas singer songwriter worshipper shoveling it in at All Good Cafe, hanging out with Pleasant Grove. Do you think that dude would honestly pay any attention to anyone that isn't some sad sack acoustic bullshit? As horrible as that Ghosthustler article was, under Noah Bailey, that shit won't even be considered music. Good luck, Dallas. Things might get even worse if you actually support a somehow even more clueless and close-minded regime.

I think 2:14 is talking about the very last commenter in that link. Which, as far as I can tell, has nothing to do with Jonanna--unless she's a former Observer music editor with an affinity for "Nintedo."
