The Ladybug Transistor | Papercuts | Brooke Opie (Rubber Gloves)
It's pretty impressive that Ladybug Transistor has a hand in the new Soft Machine founder Kevin Ayers' new solo record. I don't know how they got hooked up with that, but that's definitely an upgrade from their usual Elephant 6 co-conspirators. If you can get your hands on a used copy of this record, it might become painfully obvious that Ayers is used to better company than The Ladybug Transistor, all due respect. San Francisco's Papercuts and McKinney's Brooke Opie open, and both make fairly charming pop songs.

Oso Closo | Darling New Neighbors | Tober Omi (Club Dada)
Tober Omi is the standout on this bill with decent influences and backing tracks, but somewhat overly obnoxious vocals. They might blend better live. They would make much more sense on a lineup with say, Deep Snapper, Record Hop, or even Tame...Tame And Quiet than this particular bill.

Lost Generation with Ineka And Wanz (Fallout Lounge)
Tonight's guest DJ is Sean Vargas.

80's Night With DJ G (Hailey's)

Scratch Acid tribute band for a documentary being filmed about Scratch Acid. Show has been moved to secret location. If you wanna go contact Wanz.

scratch acid at pasttime? wtf?!

Okay, you can put up the weekender now thanks.

I'm glad to find out that the FC Dallas mascot is named Tex Hooper, because I thought that they mistakenly wrote a basketball song. How many people know that though, and they will think the band is retarded.

...

I cry for having to miss Dan Doyle's set tomorrow.

Let's just talk about how fucked up Saturday night is.

SHOCKING NEW INFORMATION:

the bug is exactly as boring as you would expect of five 'indie rockers' from 'brooklyn'.

if daniel lanois hears about this he will either sue them for intellectual property theft or produce their next record.

this bass player frfom papercuts is waay good.

this drummer is good too but watching her hold the sticks like that hurts my brain.

please dont hold the sticks that way drummer person. kthanks.

i <3 kevin ayers

holy shit the bug wont stop 'jammin' and its givin me a major soft on.

ditto, chad. tried to see k.ayers @ sxsw but failed.
ps ladybug transistor are outstanding, quite excited to see them.

I have this record, but have not heard Ladybug Transistor. I'm sure they're better than Eno(who?), Cale(huh?) and Nico(what?). I'll check them out.

That this record is titled with a specific date suggests that it was an event to be remembered. Besides the fact that you have this avant garde dream team assembled on one stage together, you get a rare glimpse of a post-Roxy Eno playing live, which the dude is loathe to do.

And not to get all gay on The Bald One, but some of these early interviews, especially the 1973 Creem article, are good reading:
Enoweb

its not a show. its a night.

Swervies unite!

OMG I CANT BELIEVE WANZ IS PLAYING A SHOW I HATE HIM HE IS SO ARROGANT AND HE SUCKS.

Kevin Ayers and Ladybug Transistor collaborated on a song for the album Pop Romantique. They do a cover of Puis-Je.

Prospect of new Kevin Ayers album gives me a boner to the heavens.
