Here is is-your weekend in the arts. Since this is a three day weekend, the Weekender will be up later today.

THURSDAY

Van Ditthavong (Magnolia)

SATURDAY

Kara Walker: My Complement, My Enemy, My Oppressor, My Love (the Modern)

Kara Walker is most famous for using Victorian-style silhouette figures to explore race, violence, sexuality and gender. The Modern will be showing her projection piece "Darkytown Rebellion" (pictured) along with works on paper and film animations.

Behind the Pine Curtain: The Art of East Texas (Fort Worth Contemporary Arts)

FWCA hasn't updated their website since the Nixon administration, so that link won't do you much good except to get their address and phone number. We didn't get sent any information about this, so all I really know is that the works were selected by Candice Hicks, a director of the Image Warehouse in Athens, TX.

The Impressionists (Kimbell)
Okay, this one actually already opened, but I figured you're already spending the day in Fort Worth, so why not round out your day with this exhibit? Just do me a favor- take a shower before you go, watch your language, and don't embarrass me.

CHECK OUT

Margot Sawyer (Holly Johnson)
Robert Wilhite and Kirsten Macy (Barry Whistler)
Party at the Moontower (Road Agent)
