12:09, It's OK, a band can accidentally be the second coming. They really didn't do it on purpose and broke up for no reason anyways. But let them be legends to some. They fucking were.

this sucks. notes was great. but the second coming versus the suck ... both wrong. just let a band be a band.

chris0)))... the spectators thing was a bad free-associative pun in response to the sentence "genres are for spectators": speck (microscopic morsel of some sort) taters (american colloquial shortening of the word potatoes) get it? har har har sorry the rest of the post was just a show announcement for this week please come, it'll be awesome!

ok how about- notes were loud instrumental music with elements of formualic structure and abstract soundscapes?
maybe free dude jazz jam rock
like a heavy metal phish
would be better

Notes wasn't noise? Other than freejazz, what the fuck else would you say they were?? Calling them post rock is a mindless cop-out.
But regardless of what genre they fell into- they were certainly one of the greatest things to ever happen around north Texas.

And, more importantly, come see Tatsuya Nakatani at Kettle Art, Sunday the 2nd."
I think I'm missing something here. That show sounds great though.

What's wrong with Prince William? Why is there a benefit show? He's too crunk, isn't he? That's what it is.

Hell yeah, thanks for the Tatsuya Nakatani show, Aaron. That's on my birthday, and I can't think of many birthday presents better than that.

And, more importantly, come see Tatsuya Nakatani at Kettle Art, Sunday the 2nd. He is an improv percussionist based in New York with a very unique style. He will play a solo set and a set with me (Aaron Gonzalez), my brother Stefan, Austin saxophonist Carl Smith, and Kenny Withrow (Tidbits, New Bohemians) on guitar. The show starts at 7:00 and ends at 10:00 p.m. I suggest you get there on time to see the whole thing. Please bring donations....we can't formally charge for the event, but he is on the road....whatever money is not made at the door, I will have to pay him myself. This will also be your last chance to view Sergio Garcia's art show "Formal". See you there!

werent notes from the underground post rock?
Anonymous says..
11:12 PM
notes from underground was really one the best things i've ever seen. but to say that a sound or genre dies when a band is gone is just horse shit. there is still plenty and wonderful music going on around here. i think melodica did a damn fine job of showing that off with plenty of color.

Well i guess im just as lame as the rest of the noise crap thats going on right now. Notes was a band that had talent i just haven't seen anything comparable (with my taste of noise) since. Sorry to offend you.
**Note** No one was doing the same shit NOTES did

that's fucking stupid. you'll sound just as fucking lame as a person from before your time stating "i thought the noise scene died with Light Bright Highway" or whatever band from a generation before you that did the same shit.

I thought the noise scene died along with notes from underground. It seems like any thing less would be uncivilized.
