I didn't know anything about it until I saw this report on Pitchfork today, but apparently Uwe Nettelbeck, Faust's founder, died almost a week ago of presently unknown causes. I hadn't really discovered Faust for myself until about two years ago, but I've grown to enjoy and respect their music quite a bit since that time. And although I can't say I listen to them nearly as much as some of their peers (Can, Neu!, etc), they were certainly one of the rawest and most exciting bands of the Krautrock era, and its safe to say that Faust will continue to be remembered as one of most important bands of that time and place.

I haven't heard a whole lot of their newer stuff from the reformed group, but that tack they did with Dalek was cool.

Of course I care about having ADD fits on public forums. It's a habit I have kind of tried to kick. Make music. Have fun. Live life. I totally pay attention to the young schmucks and jaded/bitter old farts that smart off on here. It makes the work day go by faster and once in a blue moon someone actually says something intelligent.

There is nothing hip about Faust. Faust is a band for music geeks. The hip people listen hip music(i.e. music that ).

This is a bigger loss than you'd think because Faust had resumed being a performing and recording entity for almost the last 10 years after getting back together.

Aw, man. I have to say that Uwe was one of biggest influences. In Junior High, when we got Sodium Asstrate back together, we took a huge page from their playbook, and kids at my school were like, "This shit sucks" but we knew better. Of course, everybody knows that Uwe got all his moves from Grant Jarkens, Uwe's dentist. They jammed once and there's a great book about... Nah, fuck that. Anyways, catch us this weekend at Secret headquarters and then at the Lost Generation where I will be bumping straight Faust all night, since I know them VERY well! And I invented Denton! Welcome the new hip "influence" ... again

In High School when I did acid for the only time, we made a mix cd thinking it would be "super groovy," or something dumb like that. It was the Faust record with the hand on the cover, with Nine Inch Nails and Tool songs in between each song. Thank you Faust for being the soundtrack to one of the scariest nights of my life! You were a good band!

That sucks. I love Faust. Especially Faust IV.
