Kinky's rebuttal to his first question scared me. Upon being informed that for the governor to control the national guard, he would have to declare matial law, he said "Whatever it takes!" Yikes!
It is true that Texas is a weak Governor state, and I don't think Kinky could do that even if he wanted to... but it didn't seem like he thought about what he was saying.
In my opinion, voting for anyone but rick Perry is fine. He is actually powerful and connected enough in Austin to get what he wants.

kinky friedman might be a moron but he's our moron. plus dude holds a cigar during a debate. plus he's our jesse "the body" ventura. our own fuck you. totally voting for him.

I listened to the debate on npr and the funny part is that none of these guys will have the capability, as the governor with the least amount of power in the country, to do even half of the shit that any of them promised. We should cut our losses, vote for the least of five evils and worry about the congressional elections instead (WAY MORE IMPORTANT!)

The idea of even having a debate for this race is pointless as they have no power. The governor of Texas has nothing to do with political ideals but more as a figure head to represent Texas to the world.

I don't think Chris Bell is the next JFK or something, I just think he is the best choice out of four fairly weak candidates. Do you like how Strayhorn didn't know who the president of Mexico is, and how Kinky didn't appear to know anything? It was like he was totally winging it out there.

But Chris bell??? I thought (with the obvious exception of Strayhorn) that he came accross the worst of the "real" candidates. Yes... I will probably vote for Kinky, yet I dont even consider him a real candidate... dammit, I am a dumbass.. what the hell is going to happen to our state?

well, I'm all for change too, but Kinky could barely form a complete sentence in this debate. I like his positions on alternative energy, but it seems like he barely understands that and most of the other issues. I know that the Governor doesn't have a lot of real power, but Kinky has disappointed me time and time again to the point that I just can't vote for the guy.

hmm... actually, in watching this, I found Chris Bell to be the most obvious "fake politician". Even worse than Perry.. Am I missing something here?? The first words out of the assholes mouth were "I stood up to Tom Delay" blah blah blah. I am voting for Kinky b/c I think it would be .. well.. a change. of some kind.
