yeah, greg is awesome...
what a waste of sperm and egg!
the polyphonic splooge is for bonafide faggitos, and we'd like to see delaughter get his fuckin' ass whipped with his own gayass robe... amen?!?

yeah, greg is AWESOME.

...anyone pick up that reigning sound live record @ the show (or have it in general).... such great stuff, and by the end of the show his guitar has like 3 strings. still sounds better than most of his ilk would sound w/ all 6

i've never heard of anyone seeing a reigning sound show w/o being highly impressed

Not a choice. It's fact - sort of. I'm influenced by the history of rock and he emobodies that more than anyone I can think of. There are people who reference or personify certain periods but as far as encompassing all of the facets of the music genre known as Rock and Roll (and its influences), Greg Cartright does the best job, and faithfully.

Detroit Cobras didn't really do much for me either. I got bored and left half way through. They embrace too many cliches without bringing anything new to the plate.

Adub-
yeah I noticed Current Leaves lists Greg Cartwright as an influence. Nice choice.

Reigning Sound schooled EVERYONE that show.... Detroit Cobras my ass.

...speaking of, are the Detroit Cobras coming through dallas soon? i saw they were playing austin, and i know they have a great opening act this time too.

wow, who woulda thought that ANOTHER polyphonic spree album would come out, and not be incredible????

i loved the band and the first disk they put out... i thought they were very interesting and i'd never seen anything like them.. but now i see THEM everywhere, and i don't see their music going ANYWHERE

at least tripping daisy grew musicaly. Polyphonic spree may as well be scoring disney movies. it's just the same shit over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

yeah! the sun, you like the sun....whoopee, Tim says it's all gonna be alright... lets hug... lets wear robes... lets do an imac comercial!

The new Polyphonic and well the old polyphonic is pretty bad.

Kinda like death metal and aggression, you can go too far with being overly happy to where it's just creepy and annoying.

Kirkpatrick-
I was at that show and felt the same. Reigning Sound schools pretty much everyone though and you can't blame people for not knowing that.

Saw Heartless Bastards open for Reigning Sound last year. The girl has a strong voice, but overall it was a little too soul-mama for me. I couldn't figure out why everyone was freaking out. Reigning Sound totally schooled them, but I seemed to be one of the only people there who felt that way. I guess there were a handful of us who were into Oblivians/ Compulsive Gamblers, etc...

Just heard a few tunes of that Grizzly Bear and really liked it. Think I'll buy the CD.

What Made Milwaukee Famous was one of the worst bands I saw at Wall of Sound.

What made Milwaukee... scratching my head on that one.... opening for TV on the Radio??? are you kidding me??? The Grizzly Bear is fantastic... this is delayed response... i suck

Not that it has anything to do with anything, but anyone hear the new Jucifer? I think it's excellent. The vocals are much better than on any other album.

new spree is bad :(

i dont know anything about the band, and maybe everyone already knows this, but 'the mystic chords of memory' comes from an abraham lincoln quote (:

you can get it off soulseek I believe. And it is really good. One of the more enjoyable records that I've heard all year.

I have come around on that Nobody and Mystic Chords record and I have been liking what I have heard of Tuung as well.

How's that Grizzly Bear? No online service seems to have it so I can preview it... seems Warp doesn't do that stuff with their artists as I can't find that Broadcast comp on eMusic or Rhapsody either.

am I the only one who thinks heartless bastards are extremely overrated?
