Enough. Red Monroe USED to sound Radiohead inspired-ish. They also used to sound OBVIOUSLY/ PAINFULLY faux Brittish. They've NEVER sounded like BRMC. Ever. Have any of ya'll heard them live RECENTLY? Have any of ya'll even heard the new RM EP? Have you really? Because it sounds NOTHING like the old stuff, which kinda piggy-backed off that whole dramatic "Euro/ whiny/ coldplay/ pink floyd" resurgence a few years back. I didn't like that first album at all, not my style. A friend made me listen to the new stuff in his car against my will. I actually didn't believe it was the same band, but it is. It IS the tough music ya'll are craving---"devil music" my grandparents would say. Ya'll should try again. People change, their tastes change, people in bands change their tastes, too; Thus bands change or maybe YOUR tastes have changed. After all, what did YA'LL's first bands sound like in their infancy? Do ya'll ever get drunk and listen to the old tapes of your first songs? Embarrasing, huh? But you probably have come a long way since then. Be brave enough to try to listen to something again to see how it's developed, or maybe listen for the first time if you've written RM or any other band off after reading some dumb comments on this blog. See what YOU think. It's not indie-cool to listen to a band once and write it off. Indie-cool is liking bands other people reject---like Nico, Jesus, she's an aquired taste--- Obviously, this entire blog is people trying to "out indie" one another, so accept the challenge and see what you learn. You might be surprised.

bahaus, television, hell... you may even be giving them too much credit by assuming they've listened to some BRMC albums.

anons 12:28, 12:35 and 12:05 you are all douche bags for debating this at all

douche bag anon 12:28,

read my post(10:18)...i never said they ripped anyone off...i dont believe that people rip one another off. music you make is a product of the music you listen to, of late...generally. that's just the way it is. maybe some bands go out of their way to sound a certain way, but that's another issue and i dont believe they do that.

and Television??? that's absurd. i haven't heard their "album" but i did see the in-store and there were no guitar master pieces that i heard.

you cum bubble douche wads are ripping off each other by sitting there and arguing over who's ripping off who.

tougher? shred? pussy indie shit? GO TO CURTAIN CLUB for that. there is plenty of heavier, shredding, tougher music out there. apparently you are looking and listening in the wrong places. morons...

Anonymous says..6:54 PM

May be wrong here, but I'd guess that people that listen to tough music don't hang out on message boards whining about why there aren't more people like them.

Juan says..6:13 PM

i wish people in dallas listened to 'tougher' music... too much pussy indie shit.

You guys are all wrong...Red Monroe is clearly a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club sound-alike.

And Good Records is on Soundscan, I believe.

So you do an instore there, get all your friends and fans to buy the new record, and you become a blip on a national chart that someone may notice. It's actually pretty crafty.

everyone's missing the fact that red monroe and pegasus now had release parties at the store this week, and all of their fans came out to buy the cd. not that the records are good or horrible, i've not heard either, but the data is skewed in that respect.

just sayin.

anonymous with an "anon" says..2:03 PM

I'll be honest here. I actually liked Muse's last album "Absolution". But this new one just plain sucks. I'll still rock out to the last one tho. I still like it.

listened to their my space - red monroe does not sound like radiohead. am i missing something? and Muse blows

Anonymous says..8:20 AM

muse is fucking lame, dord. they're not terrible, just lame. they tried to cover lightning bolt live. they didn't do a so good. not that that's the whole basis i think they're lame. western epic music vidz and shitty vocals and...i dunno where i'm going with this. they blow!

Anonymous says..5:47 AM

listen, the new muse records shreds. have you heard 'supermassive black hole' or the anthem of the rest of my life 'knights of cydonia'? 'no one's gonna take me alive'?!!! hello, do you hear this? all of bob white fully endorses that song.

Yeah, I'll give credit where its due... 403 makes a good point. But come on, you can't tell me that Red Monroe isn't better than Muse, can you? And I really don't think Red Monroe sounds ALL that much like Radiohead, although the influence is clearly there.

lamer...

Anonymous says..3:43 AM

the only thing more lame than Muse, is good records itself.

all this "local cd's doing well" at good records makes me wonder what would happen if the fucking Strange Boys actually put out SOMETHING!

ANYTHING!

GODDAMNIT... if they buy pegasus now and red monroe then they oughta eat that shit up like i do oreos.

oh, i really like oreos.
